FAQ

what ages do you tutor?

We work with writers of all ages, from second grade to graduate school — and adults who simply want to sharpen their writing for professional purposes. Our most frequent clients are elementary students struggling with writing deficiencies, students of all ages looking to improve their writing skills, and high school students writing essays for class or for college applications.

Why regular lessons?

Students with writing deficiencies, including dyslexia and dysgraphia (or writing disorder), need lessons at regular intervals to reinforce and maintain the knowledge and skills they acquire before introducing new skills. In the early stages of growth, valuable lesson time may be lost if a student requires extensive review of previous lessons. Developing students succeed at the highest levels with regular lessons.

What about school assignments?

No problem. School assignments can be worked into lesson plans at any level. We recommend a few weeks of lessons before students with writing challenges incorporate school work. However, students may make appointments for particular assignments at any time.

what if i cancel late?

Tuition for lessons canceled less than 24 hours in advance must be paid or rescheduled.

do i need to bring anything?

The instructor provides writing materials and a laptop. If you are working on a school assignment or college application, you must bring the prompt and, if available, the rubric. If a teacher has provided feedback on an assignment, please bring it to your lesson.

what about college essays?

Those are one of our specialties. Our students have gained entrance into dozens of prestigious colleges and universities across the U.S. Every student has a story to tell, even if they don’t know it. We help them discover that story and share it in a way that tells colleges why the student is ready for advanced study.
