Writing for Life

With a foolproof student-centered writing process, Phil Rockrohr has identified and developed a wide range of tools to help student writers of all ages. From second grade through graduate school, Rockrohr’s students have developed skills and the confidence to write clearly and successfully. Ultimately, they leave North Shore Writing with a tool kit that prepares them to write for the rest of their lives.

Rockrohr teaches all levels of writing, from elementary students diagnosed with dyslexia or writing disabilities to adults preparing copy for their professional websites or resumes. He refines students’ writing skills with regular lessons or steps in to help students finish difficult assignments. His high school students have won more than $6 million in scholarships and been admitted to the finest universities across the country, from the Big Ten to the Ivy League.

By teaching elementary students to break down each step in the writing process, Rockrohr has turned third-graders who literally hate writing into accomplished, confident writers who excel at higher levels. He has worked with graduate students and professors facing challenges with English as a second language to increase their confidence to express themselves through writing.
